If you run similar events regularly, duplicating an existing event saves you from rebuilding maps, signs, and sign types from scratch. Signplanr copies the structure of the source event into a new draft, so you can adjust the details and go live quickly.
How to duplicate an event
- Open the event you want to copy.
- Click the ... menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Duplicate Event.
- Signplanr creates a new event pre-filled with the source event's data.
- Update the Event Name, dates, and any other fields you want to change.
- Click Create Event.
The new event starts in draft status, giving you a chance to review and adjust everything before activating it.
What gets copied
Duplication carries over the structural elements of your event:
- Maps — all image maps and geo maps, including sign placements.
- Signs — every sign record with its location, instructions, and custom field values.
- Pinned library sign types — the source event's library type pins are copied to the duplicate, so the same picker is available on day one.
- Event-only sign types — duplicated as fresh event-only types on the new event (not promoted to the library). Signs that referenced them are rewired to the new types, so editing one event's event-only types doesn't affect the other.
- Reference Documents — all event-level and sign-level reference documents, plus any sign↔event-level document links you set up. Each link is remapped so the duplicated signs reference the duplicated event-level documents (no cross-event linking).
- Customer link — if the source event was linked to a customer, the duplicate inherits that link. Edit it on the new event if needed. See Assigning customers to events.
What does not get copied
Operational data tied to the original event is excluded:
- Contractors — no contractor assignments or invitations carry over.
- Photos — installation photos are not duplicated.
- Status History — all signs reset to their initial status in the new event.
- Comments — sign comments and announcements are not included.
After duplicating, review the sign list to remove any signs that don't apply to the new event before moving to active.
