Signcraft Selects Signplanr to Centralise National Signage Delivery

Signcraft, one of Australia's longest-established signage companies, has selected Signplanr as the platform for managing its signage surveying, planning and installation - replacing a mix of systems, spreadsheets and email threads with a single source of truth, and joining Signplanr as a foundation customer with a direct hand in the product roadmap.

We are excited for the rollout to begin this month across Signcraft's national operation.

Who Signcraft are

Signcraft has been making signs in Australia since 1971. Fifty-plus years with three manufacturing facilities - Altona North in Victoria, Malaga in Western Australia, Campbelltown in New South Wales - plus offices in South Australia and Queensland, and installation coverage nationwide.

Their work spans from single bespoke architectural pieces to programs spanning hundreds of sites: automotive dealer networks, supermarkets and retail, healthcare, banking, government, education and hospitality. It's genuinely end-to-end - consultation, design, fabrication, permit coordination, installation, and ongoing maintenance which means the hard work was not only manufacturing quality signs, it was also knowing, at any moment, exactly where every sign in a national program was up to.

The problem: information that lived in too many places

Signcraft's process depended on information moving between systems that didn't talk to each other, with survey data in one place, site photos in another, instructions for contractors in an email, status in a spreadsheet - every handover was a chance for something to be missed.

"We needed a centralised platform to manage signage information, locations, requirements and project status. Our processes relied on information being communicated across multiple systems, emails, spreadsheets and site photos, which could create gaps or inconsistencies. We needed a better way to provide contractors and surveyors with clear, site-specific instructions, and to have surveyors capture complete and accurate information - measurements, photos, access requirements, installation conditions, and answers to predefined questions. We also needed real-time visibility of contractor progress and more reliable reporting across multiple projects and sites."

- Gerges Fadel, Chief Financial Officer, Signcraft

That last point is the one that causes the most issues. On a single site, a gap in survey data is an annoyance, across a national rollout, it's a return visit, a remake, and a delivery date that moves.

Why Signplanr

Signcraft evaluated Signplanr over 4 months against a number of alternatives.

"Signplanr is purpose-built for signage surveying, planning and installation rather than being a generic project management platform. It brings site surveys, signage locations, contractor instructions, photos, documentation and progress tracking into one platform. The map-based interface provides clear spatial context and makes it easier for contractors to identify exactly where each sign is located. The ability to provide detailed instructions, capture annotated photos and track individual signs through each stage of delivery was particularly valuable. It connects the office and field teams through a shared source of current project information, and provides the operational visibility and accountability required to manage complex, multi-site signage programs."

- Gerges Fadel, Chief Financial Officer, Signcraft

The map-based interface is the part we'd argue matters most, and it's the hardest thing to retrofit into a generic tool. A signage program is inherently spatial. A list of 400 rows tells an installer very little; 400 pins on the site plan they're standing in tells them everything. Every sign carries its own specification, instructions, artwork, photo evidence and status - anchored to the exact spot it belongs.

A roadmap partnership, not just a licence

Signcraft join Signplanr as a foundation customer, which means their operational needs and field feedback are a primary input into what gets built next - with regular working sessions, real priorities from live jobs, and delivery reviewed against them.

Contractor-created surveys - letting a field crew create and plot a survey on site, rather than waiting for someone in the office to set one up - was built and shipped as a direct result of these conversations.

"The experience working with the Signplanr team has been very positive. They have demonstrated a strong understanding of signage operations and the practical challenges involved in surveying and delivering signage projects. The team is knowledgeable, responsive and open to understanding our specific operational requirements. They have worked collaboratively with Signcraft and have been practical in translating our business requirements into workable system functionality. Their combination of signage industry knowledge and software capability has made the implementation process more effective."

- Gerges Fadel, Chief Financial Officer, Signcraft

"A company that's been making signs since 1971 knows things about this work that no amount of software experience substitutes for. Signcraft aren't telling us what features they'd like; they're telling us what actually goes wrong on a site at 6am, and what would have prevented it. That's the most useful input a product team can get, and it's why we structured this as a partnership."

- Lorena Dalic, Managing Director, Signplanr

Signcraft's outlook

We asked Signcraft what success looks like once the rollout completes.

"We're expecting more accurate, complete and consistent information from site surveys, and clearer instructions for surveyors, installers and other contractors. Improved visibility of progress at each site means reduced ambiguity, missed information, return visits and avoidable rework. We expect stronger contractor accountability through documented instructions, progress updates and completion evidence, and faster, more accurate project reporting for our internal teams and our customers. Critically, it should allow earlier identification of site issues, so we can resolve risks before they affect manufacturing or installation - and give us a scalable, standardised delivery process that supports our national and multi-site project requirements."

- Gerges Fadel, Chief Financial Officer, Signcraft

Note where that lands: not on features, but on the cost of finding out too late. A site issue caught during a survey is a conversation but the same issue caught during installation is a remade sign, a second install, and a client explanation.

Signcraft's national rollout of Signplanr starts this month. We can't wait to publish a follow-up on how it's going.
