Creating Geo Maps
Use satellite or street view maps for outdoor events with real-world coordinates.
Geo maps use real-world satellite or street imagery, making them ideal for outdoor events, festivals, construction sites, and any venue where geographic coordinates matter. Contractors see actual terrain and roads, which makes locating sign positions straightforward.
When to use a geo map
- Outdoor events where signs are spread across a large area.
- Roadside or highway signage where GPS coordinates help contractors navigate.
- Multi-venue events where you need real-world context between locations.
For indoor venues or site plans, an image map is usually a better fit.
How to create a geo map
- Open your event and click the Maps tab.
- Click Add Map.
- Select Geo Map as the map type.
- A Mapbox-powered map appears. Use the search bar or drag the map to navigate to your event location.
- Set the Map Bounds by adjusting the visible area. This defines the default view contractors see when they open the map.
- Enter a Map Name (e.g. "Festival Grounds" or "Highway Route A").
- Choose a Map Style — Satellite for aerial imagery or Street for a road-focused view.
- Click Save.
Your geo map is ready. You can now place sign pins at real-world coordinates.
Satellite view works best when contractors need to identify landmarks like buildings, trees, or parking areas. Street view is clearer for road-based signage.
Adjusting the map after creation
You can return to the map settings at any time to change the default bounds or switch between satellite and street style. Sign placements are preserved when you change the style.
