Design View
Two views of the same plotted map — Install for the crew, Design for the client — with your own sign IDs, sign-type colours and a PDF pack you can hand over.
The map does a second job
Plotting signs on a map was built for installers: find each sign, track the install. Designers and signage consultants kept asking for the same map as a design artefact — an install pack, a customer sign-off plan, a printed drawing with their IDs on it. Design view is that.
Install view and Design view
- One toggle in the map toolbar. Install view is unchanged: sign numbers on pins, colours by install status.
- Design view: label tags carrying the sign's ID, name or number; colours by sign type; a collapsible legend in the corner.
- Remembered per map on your device; each event can set a default view.
Sign IDs
- A new field on every sign for the ID you already use, such as
N21Aw-1. - Signs sharing an ID are numbered as instances automatically —
N21Aw-1_1,N21Aw-1_2— and the numbering never reuses a live instance. - Shown in the signs list, search, sign detail and the map pin; a
Sign IDcolumn round-trips through CSV import and export.
Colours and labels
- "Design view pin colour" per sign type in your library, with a per-event override. Automatic palette colours when unset.
- Labels are placed automatically on the side the sign faces and avoid each other. Drag to tidy; reset from the pin menu.
Exports
- Design Map PDF: cover page, the plan with labels and colours, a colour key, and a schedule sorted by Sign ID. Pin size matches the editor, or print-readable for very large plans.
- Export current view as image: a PNG of what you see.
In the field
- A Field app label setting shows contractors Sign IDs instead of sign numbers, while their colours stay on install status.
