Installing the App on Your Phone
Install Signplanr as a PWA on iOS or Android for the best experience.
Signplanr works in any mobile browser, but installing it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) gives you a faster, more reliable experience. The app launches in full screen, lives on your home screen, and supports background sync for offline photo uploads.
Installing on iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Open Safari and go to signplanr.com. You must use Safari — other browsers on iOS do not support PWA installation.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Edit the name if you like, then tap Add.
The Signplanr icon appears on your home screen. Tap it to launch the app in full-screen mode.
On iOS, you must use Safari to install a PWA. If you open Signplanr in Chrome or another browser, the "Add to Home Screen" option will not appear.
Installing on Android
- Open Chrome and go to signplanr.com.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Tap Install app (or Add to Home Screen on older versions of Chrome).
- Confirm by tapping Install.
The Signplanr icon appears on your home screen and in your app drawer, just like a regular app.
On some Android devices, Chrome shows an install banner at the bottom of the screen automatically. Tap Install on the banner to skip the menu steps.
Why install the PWA?
| Feature | Browser tab | Installed PWA | |---|---|---| | Full-screen experience | No (browser UI visible) | Yes | | Home screen icon | No | Yes | | Background sync | Limited | Reliable | | Offline access | Basic | Full | | App switcher | Mixed with browser tabs | Standalone app entry |
Installing the PWA does not download a large file. It simply tells your phone to treat Signplanr as a standalone app instead of a browser tab.
Updating the app
The PWA updates automatically in the background. When a new version is available, you see it the next time you open the app. There is nothing to update manually.
If the app feels outdated, close it completely and reopen it. This forces a refresh from the latest cached version.
