Scanning QR Codes

Scan a sign's QR code on-site to jump straight to its detail page.

When you are on-site, scanning a sign's QR code is the fastest way to open its details. Instead of scrolling through a list of signs, point your phone camera at the code and you land on the exact sign you need.

Scanning with the in-app scanner

  1. Open the Signplanr app on your phone.
  2. Tap the Scan button in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Point your camera at the QR code on the sign.
  4. The app reads the code and opens the sign's detail page automatically.

Scanning with your phone camera

You do not need to be in the Signplanr app to scan. Your phone's built-in camera app works too.

  1. Open your phone's Camera app.
  2. Point it at the QR code. A notification or link banner appears.
  3. Tap the link. Your phone opens Signplanr in the browser or the installed app.
  4. If you are already logged in, the sign detail page loads immediately. If not, you see the login screen and are redirected to the sign after you log in.

You must have access to the event to view the sign. If you scan a code for an event you have not joined, you see a message explaining you do not have permission.

What you see after scanning

The sign detail page shows everything you need:

  • Sign number, type, and current status.
  • Instructions from the organiser.
  • Artwork and reference documents.
  • Photo upload area for submitting your installation photos.

From here you can update the sign's status, upload photos, and view any attached reference documents — all without navigating through menus.

Troubleshooting

  • QR code will not scan — make sure the printed code is not damaged, wrinkled, or too small. Hold your phone steady about 15 - 20 cm from the code.
  • Link goes to login — you need to log in before accessing the sign. After logging in, you are redirected to the sign automatically.
  • "No permission" message — you have not been added to this event. Contact the event organiser to get access.
