Adding & Removing Surveys in the Field

Create new survey points from the app — plot the location and pick a sign type — and delete ones you or a teammate added.

On some events, your organiser lets you create survey points yourself while you're on site — handy when the exact location and sign type aren't known until you're standing there. If this is switched on for the event, you'll see the options below. If you don't, ask your organiser to enable it.

Creating a survey needs an internet connection. Once it exists, all the normal work — photos, answers, notes, moving the pin, and submitting — still syncs offline as usual.

Two ways to add a survey

From the surveys list

  1. Open the event's Surveys list.
  2. Tap + New survey.
  3. Enter a name, optionally pick a sign type (this unlocks that type's structured questions), and add a location label or notes.
  4. If the event has a map, tap Plot on map to drop a pin — tap the map to place it, then drag to fine-tune. On a geo map you can also use Use my location.
  5. Tap Create survey. You'll land on the survey so you can start adding photos and answers straight away.

From the map

  1. Open a map for the event.
  2. Tap the + Survey button.
  3. Move the map so the crosshair sits where the survey is, then tap Place here (or My location on a geo map).
  4. Fill in the details sheet and tap Create survey. The new pin appears right where you placed it.

Adding a survey to a job

If you're working a job, new surveys can join it directly:

  • On the job page, tap Add survey next to the Surveys heading. The new survey becomes part of that job — it shows in the job's list and counts toward its progress.
  • Opened a map from the job's View on map card? The + Survey button there also adds to that job automatically — you'll see "Adding to " on the details sheet.

Surveys created from the plain surveys list or an unfiltered map stay standalone.

Picking a sign type

Choose from the sign types your organiser has set up for the event. Pick one with survey questions to capture structured answers, or leave it as None — basic notes & photos. If nothing fits, leave it blank — your organiser can set the type later when they review it.

Deleting a survey

If creating is enabled, you can also delete surveys on that event — your own or ones a teammate added:

  • On the survey: use Delete survey at the bottom of the page.
  • On the map: tap a survey pin, then Delete survey in the actions.

You'll be asked to confirm. Deleting needs a connection too.

Deleted a survey by mistake? Your organiser can restore it within 30 days from their recently-deleted list — nothing is lost straight away.
