Placing Surveys on a Map
Plot surveys onto an event's image or geo maps, move their pins, and use the layer and job-highlight controls.
Surveys can live on your event maps right alongside signs. Plotting a survey gives it a precise spot on the site plan or the geographic map, so contractors know exactly where to go. This works on both image maps (uploaded site plans) and geo maps (Mapbox), and is available to organisation owners and admins.
The Surveys layer
Open any map in its editor. The toolbar has a layer toggle with three options:
- Both — signs and surveys together
- Signs
- Surveys
Switch to Surveys (or Both) to work with survey pins. Survey pins are styled distinctly from sign pins so the two never get confused.
Placing a survey
The sidebar lists the event's surveys split into two sections:
- Placed (N) — surveys already on this map
- Unplaced (N) — surveys not yet on a map
To place one, find it under Unplaced and click Place, then click the spot on the map. The pin drops where you click and the survey moves into the Placed list.
If you see "No surveys placed on this map yet." or "All surveys are placed.", that's just the sidebar telling you which list is empty — create surveys first if both are empty. See Creating a survey.
Moving and removing a pin
- Move — drag a placed pin to a new spot. The position saves automatically.
- Remove from map — select the pin and click Remove in the sidebar (or use the pin's menu). This only takes the survey off the map; it doesn't delete the survey.
The pin menu
Click a placed survey pin to open its menu. Alongside the survey actions you'll find map-specific items:
- Move to job / Move to another job — attach the survey to a survey job
- Remove from job
- Remove from map
Highlighting a job's surveys
When the event has survey jobs, the toolbar shows a Highlight job selector. Pick a job and its surveys light up — each child pin is ringed and numbered 1…N, while everything else on the map dims back. Choose No job highlight to clear it. This is a quick way to see a single visit's route across the site without filtering anything out.
