Managing Customers

A customer in Signplanr is the end-customer your organisation does work for — the retailer, venue owner, chain, or installer client behind the events you manage. Customers are separate from your own Signplanr organisation: your org is the account holder, the customer is who you're delivering for.

When customers are useful

Customers come into their own when you do recurring or multi-event work for the same client:

• A sign printer servicing five separate fit-outs for one retail chain.
• An installer handling annual conferences for the same venue partner.
• A signage contractor running quarterly refreshes across a customer's locations.

If every event you run is for a different end-customer (one-off bespoke jobs), the feature is still useful for organisation and reporting — but it's less load-bearing.

What gets stored

For each customer you can record:

• Name (required) — the customer's organisation name.
• Contact name, email, phone — the person you deal with on their side.
• Billing address — where invoices go.
• Internal notes — private to your org members.

You can also archive customers you no longer work with without losing the link from past events.

Who can see what

• Every member of your Signplanr org can see the customer name on events.
• Owners and admins can see contact details, billing address, and notes. They can also edit, archive, and delete customers.
• Members see name and notes only on the customer detail page. They can't edit.
• Contractors never see customer information — they only see the events and signs they've been assigned.
• The public progress page never shows customer information either.

What appears in exports

Only the customer name appears on CSV exports, sign PDFs, and map PDFs. Contact details, billing address, and internal notes are never written to any export. See Customer data in exports for the full breakdown.

Plans

Customer management is included on every plan, including the Free tier. There's no limit on how many customers you can add.
