Creating a Survey Job
Use the two-step New Job wizard to write a brief, schedule the work, and add the surveys that belong to a job.
You create a survey job with a short two-step wizard. Step one is the brief — who the work is for and what's involved. Step two is the schedule — when it's due, when it releases, and which surveys belong to it. Creating jobs is available to organisation owners and admins.
Start the wizard
Open the event, go to Jobs, and click New job. The wizard shows two steps across the top: 1. Brief and 2. Schedule & surveys.
Step 1 — Brief
Fill in as much as you know. Only the name is required.
- Name — what the job is called.
- Kind — Survey or Audit.
- Customer — defaults to Use event customer. Pick a different customer to override it for this job; the billing address shows beneath your choice.
- Quote / SO # — your external reference for the work.
- Chargeable — Yes, No, or Ask first. Choosing Ask first leaves the job marked Confirm chargeable (an amber pill on the job) until someone decides.
- Requestor — name and phone of whoever requested the work.
- Site contact — name and mobile of the person on site.
- Site address — where the work happens.
- This is a construction site — turn on to require contractors to acknowledge a site induction before they can start. See Construction-site inductions.
- Scope of works, Project folder URL, and General information — free-form detail. The project folder link must start with
http://orhttps://.
Click Next: Schedule.
Step 2 — Schedule & surveys
- Region — Metro or Regional. It defaults from the customer's default region when set.
- Due date — optional. It can cascade to the surveys in the job. You'll get a soft lead-time warning if the date is sooner than your organisation's metro/regional lead time.
- Release at — leave blank to release immediately. Set a future time to hide the job from the contractor until then. See Scheduling release.
- Assign to contractor — the contractor who'll do the work. Unassigned surveys in the job inherit this contractor.
Adding surveys now
Use Add survey to add child-survey rows inline — each takes a name, location, and sign type. Their survey numbers generate automatically, and when the job is created they inherit the job's due date and assigned contractor. You don't have to add them here — you can attach surveys later from the job detail.
Click Create job to finish. You land on the new job's detail page.
Your progress is saved as a draft on this device as you type, so a refresh won't lose your work. You'll be offered the most recent draft for the event next time you open the wizard.
