Managing a Survey Job

Edit a job after creation, reassign it, cascade due dates to its surveys, and schedule a future release.

Open a job from an event's Jobs list to manage it. The detail page has two tabs — Brief and Schedule — mirroring the create wizard, plus the list of surveys in the job.

Editing the brief

The Brief tab holds the same fields you set when creating the job. Edit any field and save. Some fields lock once work is underway, to protect data that's already been collected:

  • Kind locks once the job has any survey in it.
  • Customer and Quote / SO # lock once a survey in the job has been submitted.
  • Release at locks once the job has been released.

Locked fields show as read-only with the reason. If the chargeable state is still Confirm chargeable, an amber pill sits in the header until you set it to Yes or No.

Adding and removing surveys

From the job, use Add survey to attach existing unparented surveys, or remove a survey from the job with its row action. Removing a survey from a job doesn't delete it — it just unparents it. Newly added surveys inherit the job's due date (if they have none) and its assigned contractor (if they're unassigned).

Reassigning a job

Change Assign to contractor to move the job to a different contractor. The new contractor is propagated to the job's surveys that are unassigned or already match the old assignee. Surveys assigned to someone else are never silently reassigned — they're returned to you as a conflict list so you can decide what to do with them.

Due dates and the cascade

Setting the job's due date prompts you with how to apply it to the surveys inside:

  • Apply only to surveys without a due date (default)
  • Apply to all
  • Keep child due dates

This only prompts when the job has surveys and you've set a date. Clearing a job's due date never wipes the dates on its surveys. See Due dates for how due dates behave generally.

Scheduling a future release

On the Schedule tab, set Release at to a future time to keep the job hidden from the contractor until then. While it's waiting, the job shows a "Scheduled for [date]" badge in the list. When the release time arrives, the job becomes visible to the assigned contractor automatically and they're emailed — no action needed from you. Leave Release at blank to release immediately.
