Letting Contractors Create & Delete Surveys
Turn on field survey capture so contractors can add and remove survey points on an event.
Normally you create surveys and assign them to contractors. For some jobs the exact on-site location and sign type aren't known until someone is standing on site — so you can let contractors create survey points themselves in the field from the mobile app.
This is opt-in per event and off by default.
Turning it on
- Open the event and go to the Settings tab.
- Under the survey permissions, switch on Let contractors create surveys in the field.
- Save.
This option only appears when surveys are enabled for your organisation (the survey add-on, Starter and up). Contractors also need an active survey pass to create or delete.
What contractors can do once it's on
- Add new survey points from the Surveys list (+ New survey) or directly on a map (+ Survey), plotting the location and choosing one of the event's sign types.
- Delete any survey on that event — their own or ones you or another contractor created.
Enabling the toggle makes contractors full survey authors on that event, so only switch it on for events where that's what you want.
Surveys added to jobs
If the contractor is assigned to a survey job, they can add new surveys directly into it — from the job page or from a map opened via the job. The new survey inherits the job's due date, appears in the job's brief and list, and rolls up into the job's status just like one you added yourself. Only the job's assigned contractor can add to it, and only once the job is released.
Spotting field-created surveys
Surveys a contractor created carry a Field-created badge in the surveys list and on the survey detail. You can also filter the list by origin to see just the field-created ones. Everything else — reviewing, changing the sign type, converting to a sign — works exactly as normal. A survey plotted in the field brings its map location along when you convert it to a sign.
Restoring a deleted survey
Contractor deletes are soft deletes: the survey (with its photos and answers) is kept for 30 days. Restore one from Organisation settings → Recently deleted (owner or admin). Rows deleted by a contractor show a small contractor hint so you can tell a field delete from an office delete.
