Design View Pin Colours

In Design view every pin and label tag takes its colour from the sign's type. Install view is never affected — it always colours by install status.

Library colour

Set the default once for your whole organisation:

1. Go to Sign Type Library and open the sign type.
2. On the Details tab, under Design view pin colour, pick a swatch or type a hex value such as #1e3fbf.
3. Click Save changes.

Choose Automatic to clear it. An automatic type gets a colour from a fixed palette, chosen from the type's name, so it looks the same on every map and in every export.

Per-event override

One event can use a different colour for a type without changing the library:

1. Open the event's Sign types page.
2. On a pinned library type, click Design view pin colour to expand the row. The trigger shows the current colour and where it comes from — Event override, Library colour or Automatic.
3. Pick a swatch or enter a hex value. The change saves immediately and applies to this event only.

Click Library colour (or Automatic if the type has no library colour) to remove the override.

Which colour wins

For each sign, Design view uses the first of:

1. the event override for its sign type,
2. the sign type's library colour,
3. an automatic palette colour.

Signs without a sign type share one automatic colour and appear in the legend as No type.

Where the colours appear

• Pins and label tags in Design view, and the in-map legend.
• The Design Map PDF: pins, tags and the Pins coloured by sign type key on the legend page.
• The PNG saved by Export current view as image while in Design view.
