Sign Types and Custom Fields

Create reusable sign type templates with a custom field form builder.

Sign types are reusable templates that define the fields a sign can have. They live at the organisation level, so every event in your organisation shares the same library. When you add a sign to an event, you pick a type and the matching custom fields appear automatically.

Managing the sign type library

  1. Open the sidebar and navigate to Organisation Settings > Sign Types.
  2. You see a list of all sign types your organisation has created.
  3. Click Add Sign Type to create a new one, or click an existing type to edit it.

Creating a sign type

  1. Click Add Sign Type.
  2. Enter a Name (e.g. "Banner", "A-Frame", "Directional Post").
  3. Optionally add a Description to help your team understand when to use this type.
  4. Use the Form Builder to add custom fields. Each field has:
    • Label — the name shown to organisers and contractors.
    • Type — choose from Text, Number, Dropdown, or Checkbox.
    • Required — toggle on if the field must be filled in when creating a sign.
    • Options — for dropdown fields, add the selectable options.
  5. Drag fields to reorder them. The order here is the order they appear on the sign form.
  6. Click Save.

Editing and deleting types

  • To edit a sign type, click it in the list and make your changes. Existing signs that use this type keep their current data; the updated fields apply the next time someone edits a sign.
  • To delete a sign type, click Delete on the type detail page. You can only delete a type that is not in use by any signs.

Custom fields are flexible enough to capture almost anything — dimensions, materials, finishes, mounting instructions, or internal reference codes. Design your types to match your real-world signage categories.

How types appear when creating signs

When you add a sign to an event and select a type, the form displays the standard sign fields (number, quantity, instructions) plus every custom field defined on that type. Required custom fields must be completed before you can save the sign.
