Double-Sided Signs

Manage signs with two faces, each with its own artwork, instructions, and status.

Some signs have different designs on each side — a welcome message on the front and a directional arrow on the back, for example. Signplanr supports double-sided signs as a first-class concept, giving each face its own artwork, instructions, photos, and status.

What double-sided means in Signplanr

A double-sided sign is a single sign record with two faces: Front and Back. Each face is tracked independently:

  • Artwork — upload a separate artwork file for each face.
  • Instructions — write face-specific instructions (e.g. "Front faces the entrance" / "Back faces the car park").
  • Photos — contractors upload installation photos per face.
  • Status — each face has its own status. The front might be approved while the back is still in-progress.

The sign itself is only considered complete when both faces reach a final status.

Creating a double-sided sign

  1. Open your event and go to the Signs tab.
  2. Click Add Sign and select your sign type.
  3. Toggle Double-Sided on.
  4. Fill in the shared fields (sign number, quantity, general instructions).
  5. Switch between the Front and Back tabs to add face-specific instructions.
  6. Click Save.

You can upload artwork for each face after saving, from the sign detail page.

How contractors interact with each face

In the mobile app, contractors see both faces listed under the sign. They tap Front or Back to:

  • View that face's artwork and instructions.
  • Upload installation photos for that face.
  • Update that face's status independently.

If your sign type is always double-sided (e.g. "A-Frame"), consider noting that in the sign type description so your team knows to toggle it on every time.

Reviewing double-sided signs

On the sign detail page, organisers see both faces side by side. You can approve or reject each face independently. The sign's overall progress reflects the status of both faces.
